Gaming Laptops with OLED display
Gaming laptops with OLED display are still a rare breed. So if you are in the market for one, you have come to the right place. From affordable to mid-range and ultra premium, here are gaming laptops with OLED display to fit any budget.
Fresh from looking at productivity laptops with OLED displays over at Colour My Learning, it is now time to consider gaming laptops with the same desirable self emitting display.
Gaming Laptops with OLED Display
ASUS is the biggest contributor to our list with MSI and Gigabyte sharing the second spot. Here are 8 powerful gaming laptops from affordable to downright ridiculous.
1. ASUS VivoBook Pro 15 Laptop [AFFORDABLE FULL HD GAMING]
15.6-inch Full HD OLED display
Starting with an affordable unit, the ASUS VivoBook Pro 15 spots the entry level GeForce RTX 3050 and a Full HD OLED display. However, don’t let that put you off as it is paired with a top shelf AMD Ryzen 9 5900Hz octa-core processor with plenty of memory and storage to boot. The 15.6-inch panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and is capable of a peak brightness of 400nits, sufficient for even AAA titles. Even with all that power, it still manages up to 10 hours of use on a full charge.
- AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX Processor
- RAM: 16 GB / Storage: 1 TB SSD
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 4 GB
- Full HD OLED screen
- Battery life: Up to 10 hours
The Good
- amazing OLED screen quality
- ultra fast loading time
- lightweight design
- great keyboard and spacious track pad
- active cooling is quiet
The Bad
- battery is good but will drain quickly with load
- no touchscreen support
- base refresh rate of 60Hz
- lack Thunderbolt 4 support
2. ASUS VivoBook Pro 16X Laptop [1440p GAMING]
16-inch WQUXGA (3840 x 2400) OLED 100% DCI-P3 Screen 400nits with Nano Bezel
Like the VivoBook Pro 15 above but wishing for a bigger and higher resolution display, there is the VivoBook Pro 16X. A slightly blown up Pro 15 with a 16-inch WQUXGA 16:10 OLED display is a good alternative. The Wide Quad HD panel is powered by the same processor and graphics, the AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti graphics with 4GB memory. It also benefits from double memory at 32GB memory.
The Pro laptop is being sold as a creators’ machine with free 3 months subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud thrown in. But, that does not mean that it is a poor gaming machine. With that much power, it would be a waste not to drop some titles in there for a much needed down time or simply to blow off steam. And, to keep things running cool, there are two cooling fans and heat pipes to quietly push those heat away.
- AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX Octa Core Processor
- 16-inch WQUXGA OLED 100% DCI-P3 Screen
- 32GB DDR4 RAM and 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD
- Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti 4GB Graphics
The Good
- amazing OLED screen quality, bright and vibrant with inky black
- ultra fast loading time
- big memory and storage
- great keyboard with zero flex and spacious track pad with ASUS DialPad
- active cooling is quiet
The Bad
- battery is reasonable but will drain quickly with load
- no touchscreen support
- base refresh rate of 60Hz
- lack Thunderbolt 4 support
- HDMI 1.4 for 1440pixels 144Hz only
3. ASUS VivoBook Pro 16X Laptop
16-inch Wide QuadHD OLED screen 3840 x 2400pixels, 400nits brightness, glossy display
A cheaper alternative to the VivoBook Pro 16X with AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX above is this VivoBooK Pro 16X twin powered by Intel Core i7-11370H. It has the same memory and storage size as the previous laptop and even the Wide Quad HD OLED display. However, you will have to make do with the non-Ti variant of the GeForce RTX 3050 graphics.
- Intel® Core™ i7-11370H Processor
- RAM: 32 GB / Storage: 1TB SSD
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 4 GB

- ultra fast loading time
- big memory and storage
- great keyboard with zero flex and spacious track pad with ASUS DialPad

4. DELL XPS 15 9510 Laptop [MID-RANGE GAMING]
15.6-inch 3.5K OLED touchscreen 3456×2160, 60Hz, OLED, Anti-Reflect, 400 nit, InfinityEdge
Samsung supplied this oddly specified OLED panel. At 3.5K resolution, it is neither here nor there. An option with 4K UHD+ LED panel is available but not for OLED. Still, like the DELL XPS 13 OLED, this is a beautifully crafted laptop. It has all the hallmarks of a premium device and this is reflected by its price tag.
Make sure you get the newer 12th generation Intel Core i9 model. With up to 5.0GHz speed, 14 cores and 24MB cache, it will blow everything out of the water. Together with the entry to mid-range efficient GPU, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti with 4GB GDDR6 memory, you get mobile gaming too. Not just a good looking ultra slim 18.54mm and lightweight 1.96kg laptop.
Being Dell, you can configure the memory and storage to top out at 64GB DDR5 and 2TB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD respectively.
- Intel® Core™ i9-12900HK Processor
- RAM: 32 GB / Storage: 1 TB SSD
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti 4 GB
- 3.5K touchscreen
- Battery life: Up to 8 hours
The Good
- amazing OLED screen quality
- touchscreen support
- incredible build quality
- lightweight design for a full size laptop
- good keyboard and even bigger track pad
The Bad
- pricey
- base refresh rate at 60Hz
- not so great battery life when under load
- why 3.5K when you can get 4K OLED
5. MSI Raider GE67Hx [BEST ALLROUND GAMING]
15.6-inch QHD OLED display, 100% DCI-P3, up to 240Hz refresh rate
MSI got everything right with the MSI Raider GE67Hx gaming laptop. The 12th generation Core i7-12800HX, a 16 core processor with 25W Intel Smart Cache, 16GB of fast DDR5 memory and ultra fast 1TB NVMe SSD. It even comes with Intel Killer Ethernet E3100 networking with a whooping 2.5Gbps speed, WiFi 6E AX1675 wireless LAN and Bluetooth 5.2. But, most importantly, it has a QHD (2560 x 1440 pixel) OLED panel with a wide viewing angle and high refresh rate of 240Hz. And, to power all those pixels and AAA games, is the mid-range GeForce RTX 3070 Ti GPU with 8GB GDDR6 graphics memory. Other gaming prowess includes Steel Series per-key RGB keyboard with Anti-Ghost keys, Thunderbolt 4 and high definition HDMI capable of 8K resolution at 60Hz.
- Intel Core i7-12800HX Processor
- 16GB DDR5 RAM / 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD
- Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070Ti 8GB Graphics
- QHD OLED screen 240Hz
While it will cost more, we found different storage options to choose from other than the standard 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD. Storage options are as below:
- One or Two 1TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe SSD (Seq. Read 7000MB/s, Seq. Write 5000MB/s)
- One or Two 1TB SK Hynix Platinum P41 NVMe SSD (Seq. Read 7000MB/s, Seq. Write 6500MB/s)
6. Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED
15.6-inch Ultra HD OLED 100% DCI-P3 Screen, VESA DisplayHDR 400
This is the first OLED gaming laptop with 4K Ultra HD resolution display on our list and it won’t be the last. While the MSI Creator 15 XD is marketed as a slim and portable laptop for the creatives and professionals, it cannot hide the fact that it is also a powerful gaming laptop. It’s only disadvantage is the use of previous generation Intel Core i7-11800H processor. Still the 14 core CPU together with better than mid-range GPU, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti and generous 8GB graphics will push through everything you put in front of it and then some. It is without a doubt a highly portable machine with an Ultra HD AMOLED display that allows you to enjoy some of the best AAA titles out there. And, if you think that is not enough power for you, look for the MSI Creator 15 YD model with the same processor, memory, storage and display but swaps out the graphics for NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 GPU with 8GB memory.
- Intel Core i7-11800H 14-Core Processor

7. Gigabyte Aero 16 XE5 [EDITOR’S FAVOURITE]
16-inch Ultra HD 4K Samsung AMOLED 100% DCI-P3, VESA DisplayHDR 500
For the highest resolution OLED on a gaming laptop, go with Gigabyte Aero 16 XE5. The 16-inch laptop has a 4K Ultra HD 3840×2400 panel from Samsung. The well-known and proven Super AMOLED display has ultra-thin bezels, easily the thinnest of the lot. And, while there are two Thunderbolt 4 ports and one USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C port on board on top of the 3.5mm audio combo jack and DC supply jack, it also comes with an AERO Hub. The expansion hub (below) comes with an RJ45 port, full size USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A port, mini DP and HDMI. This leaves the laptop free from ‘clutter’ and more room for air vents. It will need them for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti with 8GB GDDR6 graphics that can run up to 105W of power and 14 core Intel Core i7-12700H processor.
- Intel Core i7-12700H 14-Core Processor
- 16GB DDR5 4800MHz RAM
- 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD
- Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070Ti 8GB Graphics
- Ultra HD AMOLED display
8. MSI Creator 15 [GAMING AND PROFESSIONAL LAPTOP IN ONE]
15.6-inch UltraHD 4K OLED with 100% DCI-P3, AE<2 Colour Accuracy, Factory Calibrated, Calman Verified, VESA DisplayHDR 500
This last and final laptop may come with a previous generation 8-core Intel Core i7-11800 processor but we couldn’t help but list it here as a high end gaming laptop thanks to the top of the range GeForce RTX 3080 graphics with 16GB graphics memory. All that power won’t be a problem rendering pixel for its Ultra HD 4K OLED panel. This late 2021 model will hopefully get an update sometime at the end of the year as we really love its solid black aluminium chassis with sand blasted finish. The bottom line is, this is an amazing creator’s laptop, no doubt about that, but it is also an equally amazing gaming laptop with an amazing factory calibrated OLED display.
- Intel Core i7-11800H 8-Core Processor
- 16GB DDR4 4800MHz RAM and 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD
- Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 16GB Graphics
