We know that AMD Ryzen 7 5800H processor performs equally when compared to Intel Core i7-11800H, both being octa-core CPUs. Paired with the right GPU such as the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, RTX 3070 or RTX 3080 or even the Radeon RX6600M, they are a formidable gaming machine that is not only good value for money but delivers high frame rates and smooth gameplays. We look at eight of the best mobile gaming machines based on AMD Ryzen 7 5800H processors here.
Given that they all share the same processor, of the 8 gaming laptops, we picked 5 with different GPUs to show the performance gain running different graphics. These are put through their paces using Fortnite at 1080p resolution. The results show a low 200 FPS with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 and AMD Radeon RX 6600M graphics. A mid to upper 200 FPS with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 graphics. Breaching the 300 mark is the Lenovo Legion 7 16-inch with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080.

It’s unsurprising that the higher the GPU, the faster the frame rate output. But in our books anything above 200 FPS on a gaming laptop is simply an overkill. You will need a 2K or 4K external display to make the most of GPUs like RTX 3070 and RTX 3080. At that point, you might as well trade mobility for a powerful gaming desktop. In any case, if you have the spare dough and wish to go for a future proof mobile gaming machine, these are worth a look at.

4. HP Victus 16-e0511na 16.1-inch Gaming Laptop – AMD Ryzen 7, RTX 3060, 512 GB SSD
We love the more affordable HP Victus with Ryzen 5 processor in our mid-range round-up but for a more powerful CPU and GPU, it has to be this, the HP Victus 16 with Ryzen 7 5800H with a big 16GB memory and that all important GeForce RTX 3060 graphics with 6GB memory. This puts it one level under the Pro level gaming machine category with a 3DMark Timespy score of 8070. Still a serious gaming machine and for its asking price, modern 16.1-inch Full HD display capable of 144Hz, B&O audio, various connectivity options and minimalist good look, we will take it any day.

5. HP OMEN 16-c0500na 16.1-inch Gaming Laptop – AMD Ryzen 7, RX 6600M, 512 GB SSD
The only gaming laptop with an alternative, Radeon RX 6600M graphics is the HP Omen 16. On first look, it loses the numpad giving the keys more room above a more centred touchpad. Performance wise, it is not far off from the Victus above. It will still muster 228FPS with Fortnite at 1080p. Again, as a serious gaming machine, it scored 7784 on 3DMark Timespy benchmark. Now, the reason one would pick this over the Victus, apart from the lower price tag, is the Quad HD 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution 16.1-inch panel capable of a high 165 Hz refresh rate. A total bargain if you ask me.

You must had enough Lenovo Legions but now but there is one more to come. This is one with a standard 15.6-inch while the other at the bottom of our list with the same GPU and CPU has a bigger 17.3-inch display. Our only misgiving about this entry is its paltry 8GB RAM memory. When others have double at 16GB, this seems like a complete waste of time. Still is manages 221 FPS and share all the bells as whistles with other Legion 5 at this size. If you absolutely must have one, pick a 16GB version.

From the left field comes this huge monster with a large Quad HD 17.3-inch display capable of 165Hz. To sustain those pixels and high frame rates, ACER Nitro 5’s secrete weapon is the GeForce RTX 3070 with 8GB graphics memory. The GPU won’t have any problem pushing FPS to the mid 200. It also means that, it doubles up as a mobile gaming machine and desktop replacement, negating the need the need for an external 4K display as it already has a relatively big one. The cherry on top of the icing is the long battery life of up to 9 hours for productivity applications and light gaming.

Search Dell G15 5515 on Amazon
Last but not least is this entry from Dell. In the looks department, the G15 doesn’t quite have the gaming DNA of of its Alienware sibling but there in plenty in way of ports for connectivity and vents for cooling. Which on hindsight makes it a little on the bulky and heavy side.
Underneath the hood, you get a an RTX 3060 GPU which is more than sufficient to push above 200 FPS especially when running at the native resolution of its 15.6-inch Full HD 120Hz panel. In fact, some of the best games can be played on high to ultra high settings without it glitching.
For creative work, the laptop will copy with applications like DaVinci Resolve editing video with Ultra HD footages without breaking a sweat. Even the keyboard is a joy to use for both work and play. But if there is one complaint, it has the fan noise when pushing the GPU to its limits.
