ASUS ZenPad 7.0 Z370C 7-inch Tablet
ASUS has revamped their line of tablet and chosen a new name following the success of ZenFone and ZenWatch. The new line of tablets from ASUS is now known as ZenPad adding to previous tablets with names such as MeMO Pad, Fonepad and Transformer Pad.
ASUS ZenPad 7.0 Z370C Review: Mid-Range Small Tablet with 7-inch Display
It is likely that ZenPad will replace the MeMO Pad tablets and the aging Fonepad given its similarity in specifications. For now, ZenPad is being marketed as a luxury tablet based on the new generation Intel Atom processors. The ZenPad 7.0 Z370C is the mid level tablet for the ZenPad range with an affordable price tag.
The new ASUS ZenPad 7.0 adopts the latest Intel Atom x3-C3200 Quad-Core 64-bit processor versus Intel Atom Z3745 in the old series. Together with a 7-inch HD IPS display at 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, 1GB or 2GB memory and 16GB storage, you get a very capable tablet with ultra slim side bezels, high screen to body ratio and a stylish tablet overall with a shiny metallic band wrapping the edge of the device.
5 Things You Need to Know
The tablet is based on Intel Atom processor known to have compatibility issues with certain apps from Google Play App Store. Preloaded apps will work fine but if you are the adventurous type and uses many different apps, check that the App has been written to support the new Intel chip.
New design focusing on simple. modern and clean look. The Zen design philosophy worked with the seven inch tablet, not only is the build quality high, the tablet feels sturdy and solid to hold, definitely a balance between beauty and strength. The back plate is made of plastic with a leather texture, great for gripping.
The front firing stereo speakers placed next to the front facing camera produces great sound with sufficient volume. This is by far the best place for speakers especially on a small tablet. Back facing and button facing simply won’t work especially when that is where one would usually hold the tablet leaving the speaker grill covered. If that is not enough, an optional cover accessories called the ASUS Audio Cover pumps out cinematic 5.1-channel surround with DTS-HD Premium Sound and SonicMaster technology for even better entertainment experience.
Even though this only a mid range device, ASUS is putting a lot of care and attention to making it the best display there is with a combination of different technologies. ASUS calls this Visual Master, a suite of enhancements that combine both hardware and software to optimise all aspects of the display. The result, a high contrast, sharp, crisp and clear image reproduction for realistic viewing experience.
The ZenUI lives on. ASUS’s custom skin for Android boast more than 1000 features that improves upon the interface of the standard Android making it smarter and easier to navigate. Already on more than 20 million devices sold and with over 150 million ZenUI Apps downloaded, there is no denying that the user interface with its minimalist appeal, brighter, smarter, simpler approach is fast becoming popular and if they keep this up, may just sway some tech buyers towards it.
